Replacing ":target:" with brackets to "(associatedDomain=QUERYDATA)" is a bug in the ldapbackend of PowerDNS 2.9.20 and will be fixed in the next version. Please have a look at this if you upgrade because you will have to add the brackets in your config after upgrading.
