1. Introduction
Our main goal was to provide an enterprise mail server solution which only consists of Open
Source software components. Their requirements are security, performance and scalability and
ease of use. Software which fulfills the first three requirements was already available, namely
Postfix, Cyrus Imap and OpenLDAP for the user administration. But they are not as easy to use as
most of the enterprise customers wish it and therefore we wrote a simple web frontend. The
following documentation describes how to set up all parts and configure the system to get a
working system.
Before starting with the installation you need the following things:
- Working Linux operating system
- Installed Apache webserver with PHP enabled
- Postfix, Cyrus Imap and OpenLDAP package
- Squirrelmail and LMC Admin source or package
I have used the Redhat distribution for the installation because most things are already
installed and configured or are available for download. Other distributions may work as well.
